Magellan Becomes S2C's Value-Added FPGA Prototyping Tool Distributor in Taiwan
Taipei,Taiwan - August 5,2008 - Magellan Discovery Corp. (Magellan) today announced the partnership with S2C Inc. (S2C) for distributing its SoC prototyping products, in consideration of growing market demand, meeting IC design upgrade requirements and helping to reduce IC Design cost in Taiwan. The reputation of Magellan has been synonymous with FPGA Prototyping in Taiwan IC industry with its strong distribution network and R&D team. The industry will benefit from a prompt local support team coupled with latest FPGA prototyping technology know-how. This partnership will, without doubt, enable IC design companies to reduce development cost and hasten IC time-to-market, which are the two critical success factors in the IC Design Industry.
With years of experiences and success in serving the FPGA Prototyping market, Magellan has developed a strong R&D team, which is unique in the distribution channels. As Stone Peng, Chief Executive Officer of Magellan, pointed out "Taiwan IC Design Industry is facing unprecedented challenges from Mainland China and India. While Mainland China and India usually adopt low-cost strategy, Taiwan should preserve its market position through superior technology, innovation and time-to-market. S2C products share the characteristics that are critical to Taiwan's success and can therefore assist Taiwan IC design Industry to maintain its competitive edge in the fast-moving global IC Design industry."
"S2C's Virtex-5 TAI Logic Module has great usage flexibility with features such as multiple voltage settings, programmable on-board clock sources, and SO-DIMM socket support. Using the latest Xilinx Virtex5-LX series FPGA, this particular product is designed to be highly extendable with 720 dedicated I/O pins, which can also be configured as LVDS differential I/O. In addition, the Dual Virtex-5 TAI Logic Module can provide 600 interconnections between the two FPGAs and these interconnections are also pulled to the external connectors for bus extensions," said Stone Peng, Chief Executive Officer of Magellan. "TAI Logic Module can attain the Time-to-Market requirements for IC design industry through a number of convenience features such as the bundled TAI Player runtime software that offers FPGA configuration and hardware self-test and reporting through USB interface."
S2C also offers a library of TAI LM Accessory Modules that can be used with TAI Logic Module out-of-box. One example is the Mictor Interface Module which can be used to link user designs on TAI Logic Module to external logic analyzer for monitoring critical signals. Another example is the Processor Peripheral Module which combines several functions that are commonly used by processor-based systems for booting operation system (OS). By adopting off-the-shelf TAI LM accessories, designers can save precious time and work effort in SoC prototyping development.
The current third-generation S2C product line, Virtex-5 TAI Logic Modules, was designed to overcome various challenges IC designers may face when building design prototypes; hence, the product offers various features that allow high performance, ease-of-use and expandability. Together with prompt and professional support from Magellan's strong sales and R&D team, this partnership will facilitate Taiwan IC design companies to continue maintain its status in the fierce global market.
