New Scalable Altera-based Prodigy Logic Module with OpenCL Support Tackles Wide-Range of Applications

San Jose, CA —— November 29, 2016 - S2C, a world leader in FPGA-based prototyping solutions for today's innovative designs, has announced the development of a new family of Arria 10 Prodigy FPGA Prototyping Logic Modules based on Altera’s Arria 10 1150GX FPGA.  The A10 Prodigy Logic Modules are being designed to be ideally suited for high-performance computing applications as well as prototyping small to medium-sized SoCs.  The A10 Single Logic Module will be compact in size to allow for increased flexibility and portability. This low cost, all-purpose system can be used stand-alone or scaled up to 16 FPGAs within S2C’s Prodigy Cloud Cube chassis.  The System will be integrated with S2C’s market-leading, vast library of daughter cards to quickly build prototype targets.

Highlights of the Arria 10 Prodigy Logic Module include:

    • Compatibility with Altera’s Software Development Kit (SDK) for OpenCL allowing easy implementation for HPC applications

    • Large Capacity and Scalability with 1,150K Logic Elements, 53Mbs of M20K memory, and 3,036 DSP resources and ability to connect multiple boards together for even greater capacity

    • 48 Gigabit Transceivers that can run at 16Gbps

    • 576 high-performance I/Os through 4 Prodigy Connectors that supports a variety of daughter cards

    • Compact form factor (170mm x 190mm)

    • Low-cost parallel system integration and software development

"We recognize that computation-intensive designs such as those for machine learning, deep machine learning, neural networks as well as other SoCs require much faster processing power than what is currently available on the market." commented Toshio Nakama, CEO of S2C. "Our A10 FPGA Prodigy Logic Modules——optimal performance to cost ratio coupled with Altera's leading-edge OpenCL support will allow customers to easily adopt the power of FPGA prototyping technology to truly realize the genius of their designs."

The A10 Prodigy Logic Module will work seamlessly with the full set of Prodigy Complete Prototyping Platform components including its Prodigy Player Pro software and Prodigy Multi-Debug Module that allows for undisputed configuration, partitioning, and multi-FPGA debug capabilities.

The System will come packaged with 6th generation remote management functions through either USB or Ethernet.  The Prodigy Player Pro™ Runtime Software can be run on both Windows and Linux systems to perform basic functions such as FPGA download, write/read on-board SD card for off-line download, clock and reset set-up, I/O voltage settings, hardware monitoring, and self-test.  The Player Pro Runtime Software also supports Virtual SWs & LEDs for simple tasks such as changing a setting or indicating a condition remotely. Runtime also automatically identifies daughter cards installed on Logic Modules and recognizes cable setups between connectors.
